Twitter Is Applauding the Way This Boyfriend Ended a Text Fight With His Girlfriend Using Only Middle School Math
elationships are rarely as easy as you + me = eternal love. Sometimes, though, math can help keep the love alive, as this high school couple so perfectly demonstrated in the most adorable Twitter fight of the year.
Bree and Carlos from Honolulu showed that love can overcome petty fights and arguments. It's possible! With a little math and a lot of suspending logic, you can end any argument instantly!
This is Bree Kunihiro.
She’s a 16-year-old student from Honolulu, Hawaii. Her boyfriend, 17-year-old Carlos Halili, recently texted her about going to the mall.
But they'd been in an argument and Bree didn't want to go. She shared the whole exchange on Twitter.
“Ur mad and I’m mad,” Bree wrote.
“Yeah that cancels out cus pemdas,” Carlos replied, shutting down the whole fight in one fell swoop.
If you don't remember PEMDAS from middle school math class, here's a refresher:
It’s the order of operations for complex math problems. Bree knew what he was talking about and thought it was ridiculous that he used it to rationalize the end of the fight.
“It made no sense at all when he said it, but that’s what made it funny,” Bree told BuzzFeed News.
Bree and Carlos' adorable texts immediately went viral — racking up more than 50,000 retweets and 200,000 likes in just a few days.
People loved their banter and obvious affection for each other even when they were arguing. That’s how you have a real relationship, people!
But still, some were a little wary of the logic Carlos used to prove his point.
That’s okay, though! It wasn’t supposed to make sense. It was supposed to lighten the mood and make Bree laugh, and that’s exactly what happened.
Did Carlos know what he was doing?
