A mother’s bond with her child is supposed to be unbreakable, so it’s hard to believe what this mom did to her own daughter. A woman from Ohio told her daughter that she had cancer and faked the illness by drugging her daughter and shaving off all her hair.

Hannah Millbrandt, now 21, reveals how her mother, Theresa, perpetuated a cancer scam to receive £23,000 ($32,500), in donations from neighbors when Hannah was just seven-years-old.

Hannah told the Mirror, “I was seven when I found out I had cancer. I was too young to fully understand what it meant, but watching my dad, Bob, break down in tears was enough to make me scared. My 0um, Theresa, had taken me to the doctor with a mild fever and a cough.”

“I felt OK, just a bit under the weather, but I was sent for a scan nevertheless. Later, Mum sat the family down and told us the doctor had found a tumor on the base of my spine. ‘It could be terminal,’ she said, and my father crumpled.”

Hannah wasn’t old enough to understand that she didn’t have cancer, so when her mother began to fabricate chemotherapy sessions to make the illness seem more convincing, she went along with it.

Theresa told her daughter that she only had weeks to live, and would have to undergo extensive treatments to potentially get better. As if that wasn’t traumatizing enough, the “treatments” involved Theresa shaving her daughter’s head and giving her drugs that rendered her unconscious.
