Thrift Store Shopper Finds Huge Surprise In Box Of Q-tips.
If you're a bargain shopper, then you know how important it is to get a good thrift store bargain. You spend your Sunday mornings perusing the aisles at your local thrift store, hoping to score a great deal. Occasionally, thrift store shoppers accidentally find something that's truly worth something. Money hidden in picture frames, rings hidden in the pocket of a jacket, and even antiques worth thousands of dollars have been found on the shelves of thrift stores. This woman found the deal of a lifetime when she spent only 50 cents at her local thrift shop.
Loretta Simms likes a good deal just like anyone else.
She was checking out the deals at Cowichan Hospital Auxillary Thrift Store when she saw something she thought she could use, and it would only cost her 50 cents.

Knowing she needed to clean her windows at home, Loretta thought the Q-tips were a perfect buy.
She paid the volunteers at the thrift store the two quarters, and made her way home. What would happen later that day would completely shock Loretta.
When Loretta got home, it was time to clean her windows.
When she opened the box, she almost dropped it when she saw what was inside. Instead of Q-tips being in the box, like she expected, Loretta found something a pirate would be more than happy to have.

The box ended up being a tiny treasure chest.
Inside of the box were eight rings and a pearl necklace. All of the rings were real, including the diamonds and rubies.

Loretta felt that it was wrong for her to keep the jewelry, so she got into her car and drove back to the thrift store.
“I just felt it wasn’t for me, meant for me to find and bring back, but not for me," said Loretta. The volunteers couldn't believe that she returned them to the store.

Apparently, the jewelry belonged to a man who lived overseas, and donated the box of Q-tips when he was cleaning out his deceased sister's home.
“It’s just astounding. But wonderful of the lady to return them, you know,” said a volunteer employee. All of the thrift store's proceeds are donated to the hospital next door.

Now, thanks to Loretta's kindness, the thrift store can donate $1800 to the hospital!
“They say you can’t find good finds at a thrift shop. I said ‘hey I did'," laughed Simms. This just goes to show how important it is to pay attention to the things you buy. You never know when you'll get a deal that changes your life!
