John Legend, Chrissy Teigen selling massive Beverly Hills mansion for $24M

John Legend wants you to buy all of his house.

The musician and his wife, former model Chrissy Teigen, listed their Beverly Hills home for $23.95 million after finding out they’re expecting baby No. 3.

The Wall Street Journal first reported the listing.

The couple, who already have 4-year-old daughter Luna and 2-year-old son Miles, bought the 8,500-square-foot property for 14.1 million in 2016. (Its famous former occupant? No less than the singer Rihanna.) And they had plans to stay there indefinitely — until they found out Teigen was pregnant, an announcement the pair made via Legend’s new “Wild” music video on Aug. 13.

Though the palatial pad has seven bedrooms, it simply isn’t enough for the family of five plus Teigen’s mother, Vilailuck, who lives with them.

The pregnancy likely came as a shock to them as well, considering Teigen, 34, revealed in 2018 that she and Legend only had one embryo left from IVF treatments, and that one became Miles. Even up until recently, the dynamic duo was still completing renovations on the home for the family, with Legend telling The Journal they just redid the master closets (both massive).

They enlisted longtime interior designer Don Stewart to reimagine the contemporary house. “We like modern with still some edge to it and some warmth and some coziness,” said Legend, 41, of changing up the bright white elements and glassy finishes they inherited at the time of purchase.

To do that, Stewart suggested teak wood detailing and a hand-carved ceiling. “It was something we would never have thought to do ourselves, but Chrissy’s mother is from Southeast Asia, so we try to find ways to work her heritage into our houses,” Legend said.

Other updates included completely overhauling the kitchen and adding professional-grade appliances for Teigen, a published cookbook author and home goods designer. “We like the kitchen to be part of life, so it’s not cordoned off from the rest of the house,” said Legend. The result was a kitchen with three ovens and two stovetops along with an indoor and outdoor grill.

The pair’s laid-back style can be found throughout the house, with vintage pieces seamlessly mixed in with modern furniture and accented with brass and bronze finishes. Oversized plush seating is in nearly every room, making it perfect for family living.

The dramatic entry, high ceilings and enormous outdoor patio make it ideal for entertaining. Legend’s grand piano holds pride of place in the center of the oversized living room. The property also has a movie theater and a gym.

While the Legend-Teigen family have been holed up in this Beverly Hills home, located just above Los Angeles’ famed Sunset Boulevard, during the coronavirus pandemic, they usually split their time between California and New York City.

They recently bought a unit to expand their already spacious Nolita penthouse.
