The NFL had better get its bleeper ready after booking The Weeknd to perform at February’s Super Bowl halftime show.
His No. 1 hit “Can’t Feel My Face” is widely interpreted to be a love song to cocaine. He didn’t do anything to alter that theory, singing in the song “Reminder,” “I just won a new award for a kids show, talking ’bout a face numbing off a bag of blow.”
And in “Starboy,” he refers to cutting lines of coke on his living room table, drops a few N-words and then the chorus, “I’m a motherf– kin’ starboy.”
“Halftime show performances have a history of excellence and creativity, and we look forward to seeing what he will bring to Super Bowl LV,” said Brian Rolapp, NFL chief media and business officer, without irony.
We can’t wait either.
