Ronan Farrow ripped into the publisher of his blockbuster book “Catch and Kill,” claiming they went behind his back by deciding to release his dad Woody Allen’s upcoming memoir.
Farrow said in a statement posted to Twitter that he only learned through the media that Hachette Book Group picked up Allen’s upcoming tome “Apropos of Nothing” after other major publishers refused to do so.
Hachette, Farrow says, “concealed the decision from me and its own employees while we were working on Catch and Kill — a book about how powerful men, including Woody Allen, avoid accountability for sexual abuse.”
Farrow also blasts the publishing company for allegedly not fact-checking or reaching out to his adoptive sister, Dylan, who has long-claimed Allen sexually assaulted her in the 1990s.
“It’s wildly unprofessional in multiple obvious directions for Hachette to behave this way,” Farrow wrote.
“But it also shows a lack of ethics and compassion for victims of sexual abuse, regardless of any personal connection or breach of trust here,” he said.
Allen has vehemently denied Dylan’s allegations, calling them “an unconscionable and gruesomely damaging manipulation of innocent children for vindictive and self-serving motives.”
“Apropos of Nothing,” is reported to be a “comprehensive account” Allen’s life, which will include details on “his relationships with family, friends, and the loves of his life.”
