‘SIGIL’ Release Pushed Back to April

February 19, 2019

DOOM fans will have to wait a little longer for John Romero’s spiritual successor in SIGIL to be released.

The megawad, which was announced in celebration of DOOM‘s 25th anniversary, was originally scheduled to be released mid-February, but is now scheduled for April. Sensing disappointment (and because someone needed to explain the reasoning behind it all), Romero took to his blog to explain why.

“There were a few snags in production trying to make sure everything is top-notch for fans! I just wanted to let everyone who purchased either the Big Box or the Beast Box know that it is now looking like it will ship sometime in April,” Romero writes. “Thank you for your patience, and I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. This also means the free version of SIGIL will have to wait until after the boxes are in the hands of customers.”

The Big Box was being made in conjunction with Limited Run Games, and included the megawad and a few extra goodies on a USB drive, as well as a 2-disc jewel case that contains the game’s soundtrack by Buckethead. The Beast Box, on the other hand, contained all that and much more (including Romero’s head on a spike). Both are sadly sold out, by the way.

If you’re still needing your SIGIL fix, you can always check out Romero’s Twitch stream.
