[R.I.P.] Original Marilyn Munster Actress Beverly Owen Has Died

February 25, 2019

When “The Munsters” originally premiered back in 1964, actress Beverly Owen played the role of Marilyn Munster, the daughter of Lily Munster’s sister. After the first 13 episodes of the series, Owen left the project and Pat Priest came on board to step into her shoes, but it was Owen who was the very first actress to play the beloved character.

At the age of 81, we’ve just learned, Beverly Owen passed away last week.

Beautiful Beverly Owen has left us,” co-star Butch “Eddie Munster” Patrick wrote on Facebook over the weekend. “What a sweet soul. I had the biggest crush on her. RIP Bev and thanks for your 13 memorable Marilyn Munster episodes.

Born Beverley Ogg on May 13, 1937, Owen had a brief acting career prior to being cast in “The Munsters,” with roles in TV shows such as “As the World Turns,” “Wagon Train,” “The Virginian” and “Another World.” She left acting behind completely during the first season of “The Munsters” to raise her two children and pursue studies in Early American History.
