“R” Rated ‘Alien: Isolation’ Animated Series is Reportedly On the Way!
One of Fox’s big initiatives for the 40th anniversary of Ridley Scott’s Alien this year has been the continuation of Amanda Ripley‘s story, the daughter of Ellen Ripley who was introduced proper in the video game Alien: Isolation back in 2014. That expansion was teased with a “Read. Play. Watch.” tagline, and thus far we’ve learned that the “Read” element is the comic book Aliens: Resistance, a sequel to Alien: Isolation, while the “Play” element is in reference to the new mobile game Alien: Blackout, which just launched last month.
So what about that “Watch” element, you ask? Well, Observer is reporting today – and this lines up with a recent rumor that two different Alien-related series’ are in the works – that an Alien: Isolation animated series is also on the way this year, courtesy of Axis Animation.
The site reports, “Sources tell us that an R-rated animated series based on the video game Alien: Isolation is being developed for a seven-episode run.”
They note that the series “could arrive as early as April,” adding: “We’re told the digital series may make its home on the Alien website, though that remains unknown at this time.”
Also unknown is the fate of the Alien film franchise, but it seems that Fox (soon to be owned by Disney) is in the meantime working on expanding the franchise in unique new ways.
