Stand Up for Heroes event going virtual with special guest Prince Harry

November 10, 2020

The Bob Woodruff Foundation’s annual Stand Up for Heroes event will go virtual this year for the first time ever, with a number of A-listers lending a hand to help raise money for veterans.

Jon Stewart will host the festivities, while musicians and comedians including Bruce Springsteen, Sheryl Crow, Brad Paisley and Tiffany Haddish are set to perform.

Special guests for the event — which is in partnership with the New York Comedy Festival — include Prince Harry, Ray Romano and Jeannie Gaffigan.

“We’re extremely honored and proud to continue our partnership with the Bob Woodruff Foundation to present Stand Up for Heroes,” said Caroline Hirsch, founder and owner of the New York Comedy Festival and Carolines on Broadway. “We owe so much to our brave military veterans and their families for the service and sacrifice to our country; it’s very humbling to have the opportunity to honor them over the last 14 years through this great event.”

During last year’s event at Madison Square Garden, Springsteen took advantage of the comedic evening to tell some raunchy jokes.

“Uncle takes his nephew for a walk around town,” the Boss began one tale, saying that the uncle laments, “See that bridge over there? I built that bridge. But in this town, they don’t call you ‘bridge builder.’ See that mansion? I built that mansion. But in this town, they don’t call you ‘mansion builder.’ But if you f–k one goat!”

Though Stand Up for Heroes, which serves as a kickoff for the New York Comedy Festival, will go on as planned, the rest of the weeklong fest has been postponed until 2021.

The 14th annual Stand Up for Heroes event airs on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC News Live, TikTok, Facebook Watch, Cheddar, Twitch and Armed Forces Network.
