“West Wing” actor Richard Schiff is updating fans on his battle with COVID-19.

“I was just taken off oxygen!” Schiff, 65, tweeted Wednesday evening. “Markers are down,” he added. “Cautiously optimistic for release soon. Perhaps all the prayers and thoughts need a big thank you.”

Schiff’s wife, Sheila Kelley, 59, likewise fighting the coronavirus, is “also doing better,” Schiff wrote. “Let’s keep sending positivity to everyone out there struggling,” he finished. “We got your back!” On Tuesday, he wrote that he was being treated with Remdesivir and steroids, but said Kelley had already been discharged.

Last week, Schiff announced that he and Kelly had tested positive “on Election Day,” adding, “This has been the most bizarre week of our lives.”

“West Wing” co-stars including Tim MathesonMarlee Matlin and Melissa Fitzgerald quickly offered the couple their well-wishes.
