Joshua Jackson praised “powerful” wife Jodie Turner-Smith on Sunday, as she celebrated her first Mother’s Day as a mom.

Taking to Instagram, the 41-year-old actor penned a touching note to Turner-Smith, 33, alongside a photo of the new mom and the couple’s baby girl.

“Dear Jodie, On this most special of mothers days I want to thank you for the being the light that you are. For the passion with which you threw yourself into nurturing and protecting our child when she was in your womb. For the dedication and will you showed bringing her into the world,” Jackson wrote. “I have never witnessed a more powerful being than you through those moments.”

Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith welcomed their baby in late April, but they acknowledged the extra precautions they were planning to take long before the due date. On March 25, Jackson said on "Good Morning America," "Obviously, it's a bit stressful right now and we're just trying to figure out how to be smart about being quarantined. The medical system right now is a little bit difficult, so we're figuring it out day by day."

Turner-Smith welcomed her first child with Jackson in April. Jackson went on to thank the “Queen & Slim” star for “making [him] a father.”

“Thank you for the depth of grace you have found since our daughter has arrived,” Jackson added. “The commitment that you make look so effortless but I know is anything but. Thank you for making me a father. For trusting me enough to embark on this journey together. I am humbled more and more every day by that. I love you. I love seeing you enter the pantheon of mothers.”

He continued, “And I look forward to walking this path by your side as we nurture this little engine of joy you have blessed the world with.”

Jackson and Turner-Smith reportedly tied the knot last year.
