Nora West-Allen may not always be the best character, but when Jessica Parker Kennedy is given the opportunity to shine, boy does she ever. Cicada’s back this week, and he’s on a mission to work through the list of Meta-humans provided by an anonymous source at the CCPD. Nora’s back is broken in their first rescue of the episode, and her interaction with Cicada’s dagger means that her speed-healing isn’t kicking in as quickly as she’d like.

With Nora confined to STAR Labs for the foreseeable future, the rest of the team works to round up the remaining Meta criminals on Cicada’s list. Norvak ends up being an unlikely ally to the team while Cecile works with the FBI to provide transport and witness protection for the group of ex-cons. All things considered, their plans all go pretty well. But Cicada’s about to find out that he messed with the wrong dad.

Though the way Nora came into their lives was non-traditional, Barry and Iris have all the makings of protective parents. Sherloque finds out the kind of Momma Bear Iris can be when he’s caught (rightfully) interrogating her paralyzed daughter, but Cicada finds himself on the receiving end of something a little more violent. Barry Allen is a kind man who believes that there is always another way, but watching your daughter get ruthlessly paralyzed can change a guy pretty quickly.

In addition to a murderous Barry Allen, “Seeing Red” gives us some solid moments between Killer Frost and Caitlin. While Caity may have come around on the Meta cure, Frosty is still pretty adamantly against it. Like, shatter Caitlin’s writing board against it. The Ice Queen’s existential crisis aside, she’s also the key to getting any shots in on Cicada. Since his powers can’t control her, it’s up to Killer Frost to distract the serial killer, and to keep his dagger away from him as much as possible.

While Ralph gets all of the Metas to safety in their escape chopper, Killer Frost and The Flash work on taking down Cicada. Don’t worry, Barry doesn’t kill him. Nora swoops in just in time to stop him. Cicada gets away, but not without helping usher in one of Nora, Ralph and Caitlin’s most solid episodes yet. Even Norvak has a little hero moment! The Flash is all about redemption, and it’s that core principle that leads Barry to a new plan after the dust settles (And many tacos have been consumed).

Rather than continuing to attempt to best him in the field, Team Flash is going to try to appeal to Cicada’s heart. They’re going to try to wake up Grace. At this point it seems like he might be a little too far gone for that to be a solution, but we’ve seen men like Leonard Snart change their stars. Why can’t he?

“Seeing Red” is an all around solid episode for the entire team. Each present member gets showcased in one way or another, illustrating what it is they bring to the table. Even DA Cecile Horton is given a chance to shine with her takedown of the dirty cop at CCPD. Everyone’s happy and learning how to coexist with ideas that they may not be on board with, but that all may come untraveled next week when they have to go into Nora’s mind.

Little Miss XS had a great episode this week, and Jessica Parker Kennedy is going to be given a chance to continue to flex those muscles when daddy dearest finds out that she’s been working with his arch enemy this whole time. Barry might have said that even Eobard Thawne might be able to change someday, but something tells me he’s going to have a rough time when it actually comes to confronting the man who killed his mother.
