Capcom Producer Suggests That If There’s Enough Fan Demand, ‘Resident Evil 3’ Remake is Possible
We may not even be into February yet but I feel pretty confident in saying that Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil 2 will be remembered as one of the top 5 best horror things of 2019. The ’90s game was completely remade from the ground up, retaining that classic feel while delivering a fresh new experience entirely. In a single word, it’s absolutely TERRIFYING.
So then, does Capcom have any plans on giving the same treatment to 1999’s Resident Evil 3: Nemesis? Well, if there’s enough fan demand, it’s certainly always a possibility.
In a chat with Game Watch, Resident Evil 2 producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi noted that the reason RE 2 got a remake was because fans were so hungry for it, and he suggests that that’s the key to its sequel following suit. It’s a rough translation, but Hirabayashi told the outlet, “The reason why [Resident Evil 2] became a remake was because the fans continued to send a love call saying ‘I want you to make a remake’ for 21 year. If I hear that [there’s as much demand for Resident Evil 3], I think that will be the starting point for us.”
So if you want it, beg for it. And you just might eventually get it. In the meantime, turn your volume up, your lights off, and let Resident Evil 2‘s remake scare the shit out of you.
