New Live-Action ‘Resident Evil 2’ Trailer Pays Tribute to George Romero’s 1998 TV Spot

January 24, 2019

Back in the late 90’s, zombie movie king George Romero had a brief flirtation with the Resident Evil franchise. Not only was he set to direct a film based on the survival horror series, but he directed a live-action trailer for the release of Resident Evil 2.

It was sadly the closest we got to an actual Romero-based Resident Evil, but it was a fun collaboration all the same. Now, 21 years later, Capcom has commissioned and released a new live-action trailer inspired by the late director’s original, especially for the incoming Resident Evil 2 remake.

You can take a look at the 90-second trailer below.

It’s a nice throwback to the past with a little modern flair, much like Resident Evil 2‘s remake (which we love by the way).

If you’ve not seen the original trailer from 1998, here it is.

Resident Evil 2 is out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC tomorrow, January 25.
