New Bachelorette, who dis?
Tayshia Adams is finally getting her day in the sun (aka her day in the pool at the La Quinta resort). Our new Bachelorette was ready to take on the challenge of wooing a batch of men who all came to get engaged to another woman.
Tuesday night, she proved that she’s nobody’s second choice. The 30-year-old was ready to trust the process, though it had failed her in the past. Tayshia was a finalist on Colton Underwood’s season of “The Bachelor” and then went on to star on “Bachelor in Paradise” where she fell for three-named-goon John Paul Jones.
Despite the past heartache, Tayshia was sure that the love of her life was toasting champagne with her at the resort.
Here’s how Tayshia’s first-full night as the Bachelorette went down.
The meet and greets
It was night one all over again. After getting mass-dumped by Clare, the 16 gents quickly forgot how heartbroken they were when Tayshia walked into the room.
“I like her way more than Clare already. This gave me new life man, dude it’s crazy,” said an excited Ivan.
Some felt like complaining: “I let my walls down a bit, to have that taken underneath me was hard,” Jason told Tayshia, referencing his one-on-one date with Clare during week two.
Those who hadn’t gotten a chance with Clare fell head over heels for her replacement. Zac. C and Tayshia made a wish on a coin, a la the Trevi fountain. Hopefully, they both wished for a long relationship — it’s rumored he makes it far with the new Bachelorette. Ben, who viewers should also pay extra-close attention to, slow danced with Tayshia.
The newcomers
Surprise! The devil works hard, Chris Harrison works harder (sorry, Kris Jenner). Four fresh fellas strutted into the bubble, including Montel, Noah and Peter.
Spencer Robertson made a strong first impression on Tayshia and a harsh one with the other guys. “How many of you guys were here for Clare?” he said when he walked into the house.
Boy band manager Kenny laid it plain: “Seems like he’s here just to be a d – – k.”
Still, Tayshia awarded him the first impression rose and a kiss.
With the new additions to the house, Tayshia wasn’t ready to send anyone home. “I would like to cancel the rose ceremony and continue all of our journeys,” she told her gents.
Clare and Dale tell all
Freeze! Who doesn’t love a middle-of-the-episode sit down with Clare, Dale and Chris?
The couple chatted with the longtime show host to update us on their love (though we could have gained all this information from their very-extra Instagram stories). Of course, they are still engaged.
“It was hands-down love at first sight,” said Dale, 32. “Everything he was looking for was everything I was looking for,” swooned Clare.
The duo maintains they did not have contact before the show, and really did fall in love in only two weeks. “It was after we got engaged that he was like, ‘oh can I have your number?’ ” said Clare, 39.
Though she wants babies whenever they come, Dale wants to get married first.
The first group date
As if they learned nothing from the strip dodgeball incident, Tayshia and Chris had a large group of the guys change into speedos for a game of pool basketball. The winner got a cocktail party with Tayshia, the losers had to head back to the house. Everyone lost their dignity.
Fed up with Spencer and wanting a little one-on-one time, Riley inadvertently punched him in the face while fighting for the ball. Oops! But that didn’t stop the green team from bringing home the trophy.
The cocktail party was anything but casual: Tayshia kissed Zac C. and talked about kids with Riley. But it was Eazy who left with the group date rose.
The quick exit
A heartbroken Jason had to excuse himself from the journey. He “fell in love” with Clare and she fell for someone else. “My feelings are hurt, and I can’t just flip the switch for Tayshia,” he said. “I can’t do this anymore.”
It confirmed Tayshia’s worst fears: that the men would be hung up on Clare and not want her.
The one-on-one
…went to Brendan and his adorable turtleneck. Ever the fans of puns, the producers wanted to make sure Brendan was ready to get “back in the saddle” with a new gal. So they went horseback riding around the pool.
Chris c – – k-blocked the duo by (literally) scootering around the resort to offer them margaritas, ice cream and coconuts. But he left them alone for long enough for them to sneak in a make-out in the pool. “I’m ready to go home with Brendan, this man is everything,” said Tayshia.
Brendan was scared to tell Tayshia he was previously married and got divorced. Lucky for him, so was she. Of course, she awarded him a rose. And fireworks played them off!
Prediction
Looks like the producers are going to theme more dates around, what else, objectification and toxic masculinity. One can only hope that Bennett and Noah, two eccentric souls, will compete in some sort of grooming battle.
