‘Bachelorette’ star Peter Giannikopoulos gets in car wreck after COVID-19 diagnosis
Peter Giannikopoulos, a new suitor for “Bachelorette” Tayshia Adams, revealed Tuesday he not only tested positive for COVID-19 but had been involved in a car wreck.
Taking to Instagram, the 32-year-old real estate adviser reflected on the past 24 hours, which had been “some of the hardest in [his] life.”
“Yesterday I tested positive for Covid and have begun two week quarantine,” Giannikopoulos began. “I am going through a lot of emotions at the moment with so many thoughts in my head as to how this happened.”
Giannikopoulos, who made his “Bachelorette” debut on Tuesday night’s episode, noted he had “felt lousy for a few days,” but didn’t anticipate catching the coronavirus because he’s “been wearing a mask in public, washing and sanitizing hands regularly, and following social distancing protocol during work.”
“This is an example no matter who we are or what we do, we are all vulnerable,” he continued.
The Boston-based Giannikopoulos then added how he got into a car crash within moments of learning about his COVID-19 diagnosis.
“While driving home from the clinic my anxiety started to get the best of me,” he said. “As a result of the anxiety, I lost consciousness behind the wheel and my car went off road through a guard rail and hit a pole. The air bag deployed, driver side door was wedged in, broken glass everywhere, and I was 5ft away from smashing into a building.
“All I remember was waking up to people shouting for help, as I was in a deep daze and confusion. I didn’t know where I was, how I got there, or what happened,” he continued.
Giannikopoulos added that he “came out of it with only a small gash on [his] nose.”
“Truly a blessing as I am a firm believer I had angels watching over me,” he continued.
In addition to Giannikopoulos, three other suitors joined the cast of “The Bachelorette,” following Clare Crawley and Dale Moss’ dramatic exit last week.
