Any port in a storm!

Rapper YNW Melly has filed for restricted release from custody after testing positive for coronavirus while in Broward County Jail, his Twitter announced Thursday night.

Melly, née Jamell Demons, was arrested last February on two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the October 2018 killings of two other up-and-coming rappers: Christopher Thomas Jr., 19 (YNW Juvy), and Anthony Williams, 21 (YNW Sakchaser). He is facing the death penalty, pending trial.

While in custody, the 20-year-old was allegedly connected to the 2017 shooting of sheriff’s deputy Garry Chambliss. In April 2019, he announced plans to release a mixtape from jail.

In the announcement, Melly’s team says that they’re hoping the release will allow the rapper to find “better care due to any jails not being prepared to treat this new virus.

“He hopes for your support and to recover soon,” the message closes with.
