Mazel tov! A couple in lockdown were married by anchor Pat Kiernan on Zoom Thursday live on NY1.
Kiernan — who on April 20 tweeted an offer to officiate weddings — wed Department of Sanitation worker Julie Raskin and lawyer Matthew Haicken with the network’s staffers Roger Clark, Annika Pergament and Jamie Stelter playing virtual witnesses.
Even City Council Speaker Corey Johnson chimed in over Twitter, saying “Love … We might have to celebrate it a little differently now, but it’s still a beautiful, moving experience.”
The couple’s dog served as ring bearer. Raskin said their parents are elderly and her father is sick with cancer, and a Zoom wedding “takes the stress away and makes it something fun to celebrate.”
