‘Covidiot’ fashion influencer issues tearful apology – as hubby hits back

April 02, 2020

An NYC fashion influencer who was deluged with flak for fleeing to the Hamptons after testing positive for the coronavirus has issued a tearful apology — as her husband fights back by firing snarky comments at her critics.

Arielle Charnas — who founded the lifestyle blog Something Navy and has 1.3 million followers on Instagram — irked fans when she got a COVID-19 test via connections to a fancy doctor.

While other New Yorkers struggled to get screened, she had husband Brandon film every detail as she got a drive-through test. When it came back positive on March 18, she didn’t lay low, instead heading to the Hamptons, where she posted pics of herself outside.

On Thursday, a tearful Arielle seemed contrite, posting in a statement, “My family and I are truly sorry to those we have offended for not appearing to [take] this crisis gravely seriously” and crying on Instagram, “We’re not bad people.”

But in a direct message seen by Page Six, her husband also called a former Something Navy fan, Andrea Rodríguez, “a loser” after she posted an Instagram Story calling Arielle “reckless, selfish and irresponsible.”

“Get a life,” Brandon said with a number of laughing emojis. He told Rodríguez, whose alma mater is listed in her bio, “Cornell was a safety school, hahahaha.” Brandon — who went to the University of Pennsylvania and is the founder of commercial real estate firm Current Real Estate Advisors — also has the virus, as does their kids’ nanny, who is with them in the Hamptons.

Thousands left angry messages after Arielle posted images of herself sitting outside in the Hamptons eight days after she announced her test results. She documented every moment of her coronavirus journey on Instagram, including the arrival of a Louis Vuitton bag at her home.

On Thursday, she posted she’s been “accused of falsifying my own test results” and has received death threats. She insisted she waited 14 days to decamp for the Hamptons, got a medical OK, and she’s “confident this was the right move to reduce the potential spread.”
