Okay, so you’ve spent your weekend hunkered down and playing the crap out of Resident Evil 2 like everyone else, right? And you’ve probably finished the game already. Well, if you have, you’ve probably glanced through the game’s credits and come across this little nugget:

Yep, that’s right. Capcom gave special thanks to one Invader Studios. The same Invader Studios that was working on a fan remake by the name of Resident Evil 2 Reborn that was cancelled following Capcom’s announcement of an official remake, but was subsequently changed into the upcoming Daymare 1998 (which recently snagged a publisher).
A totally unexpected but very gracious gesture by Capcom, for sure. And certainly better than what some companies have done in the past in regards to fans doing remakes/tributes to beloved games and franchises.
Daymare 1998 is set for release later this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
