His funeral service was held in Porterville, California. TMZ reported that the body was “decomposing badly, and needed heavy makeup and gloves to cover the deterioration.”

Manson died 4 months ago but his body was put on ice until a judge could decide who would have the rights to it.

Manson’s grandson, Jason Freeman, fought a months-long legal battle to gain the right to his grandfather’s remains.

Freeman and his wife, who are both Christians, persuaded a pastor to conduct the memorial. He wanted his grandfather to have a “proper burial” despite his notoriety.

Approximately 30 people showed up at the funeral home, including Manson’s former fiancee, Afton Burton, and former Manson Family member, Sandra Good.

Freeman and a Manson Family member did Manson’s eulogy.

Manson’s body was cremated, and his ashes were spread along a creek in a nearby forest.

Despite Freeman’s own father killing himself because of the burden of being Manson’s son, Freeman wanted his grandfather cremated and his remains scattered. Freeman said he wanted to finally put to rest “this so-called monster, this historical figure that shouldn’t have been blown up as big as it was for all these years.”

Manson died of natural causes at the age of 83 back in November 2017.
