9-Year-Old Jacob Wants You To Help Him Celebrate Christmas Early.
The holidays are quickly approaching, and everyone is beginning to get into the spirit. Families are making plans for gathering around the Christmas tree. Kids are getting excited about their favorite elf making a visit to their house on Christmas Eve. People are starting to decorate their houses with Christmas lights that can be seen from miles away. Although Christmas is still well over a month away, this family is celebrating the holiday a bit early this year. You may be thinking that that's a little silly, since it seems like the whole country goes Christmas crazy too early, but this family has a very special reason for celebrating early, and the reason will certainly bring tears to your eyes.
Nine-year-old Jacob Thompson is just like any kid his age.
He enjoys playing with Legos, Minecraft, and Star Wars.

But unlike most kids, Jacob was diagnosed with High Risk Neuroblastoma at the age of five.
In early October, Jacob's parents were informed that he only had one more month to live, so they decided to celebrate Christmas early.
Jacob is asking people to celebrate his wonderful Christmas spirit with him by sending him Christmas cards.
"He got some cards from this Halloween, and he opened up and saw them and it was like getting a gift, " said Roger Guay, Jacob's father.
"He read it to us and had a big smile his face and his nose scrunched."
"He was excited to see what people had to say and it just brightened his day," said Guay.
After Jacob had sent out his request, he received over 100 Christmas cards from all over the world.
"People have called him an old soul and I believe it because he has taught us so much about life and about people," said Guay. "He's accomplished everything that he needed to do by 9 years old, and a lot of people don't accomplish that, ever."

Jacob and his family plan to celebrate Christmas next weekend.
His hospital room at Maine Medical Center will be decorated with snow, a Christmas tree with lights, and of course old Saint Nick will be there. Like all young children, Jacob wants Christmas presents and cards from his friends and family.
