Around 3:30 PM on March 7, police responded to a call after receiving reports of a robbery at the Bank of America on Philbrook Avenue in Portland. The man was identified to be Donald Sturton a 70 year-old who threatened bank employees with a concealed gun.

The suspect managed to steal a small amount of cash and then later fled to a nearby mall parking lot. The bank employees were able to give an accurate description of Sturton which made it easier for the police to identify him.

Police apprehended the suspect and made the arrest at the mall. The officers recovered the stolen cash and a toy gun. Sturton has been charged with robbery and was held in jail since Wednesday at the Cumberland County Jail. It wasn’t immediately known if the suspect had a lawyer. A listed phone number was disconnected.
