Mother Arrested After Neglecting 6 Kids At Home Infested With Lice

August 02, 2018

Police arrested a woman after they found her children in the worst living conditions possible.

30-year-old Sara Nicole Resko was arrested by Marion County Deputies on Tuesday afternoon. The deputies found that Resko left six children, all minors, without sufficient care at home.

The deputies were called to the area when someone from the neighborhood found the children wandering the streets. A 2-year-old girl was naked from the waist down and was given a towel to cover herself up by one of the witnesses.

The toddler was with a 4-year-old boy who was also wandering the road. The little girl had multiple sores and open wounds all over her arms, legs, chest, back, feet, and face.

As the deputies tried to figure out where these children had come from, they found the rest of their siblings. The rest of the children (ages 6, 8, 9, 13) told the deputies that their mother had left them alone while she was at work. All of the children were infested with lice and had open sores on their bodies.

When the kids brought the authorities to their home, they found that there was no food, no running water, and no electricity in the residence.

The floor was covered in dog feces and there were flies everywhere.

The home was a complete mess and the children slept on bare mattresses on the floor with no linens to sleep on.

The deputies stayed at the home for an hour and 30 minutes when Resko arrived. She then lied to the deputies, saying she had only been gone for a few minutes.

After arresting the woman, deputies later found that this was not the first time that Resko left the children by themselves. Resko had failed to provide care and supervision to the children multiple times.

The woman was charged with six counts of child neglect.
