Marvel Comics Adaptation ‘Morbius’ is Filming Now and Jared Leto Teases First Look at the Living Vampire
In the wake of last year’s Venom, Sony’s next dark Spider-Man spinoff will bring the Marvel Comics vampire Morbius to the screen for the very first time, with Jared Leto playing the titular blood-sucker. Over on Twitter today, Leto provided us with our first sneak peek “teaser” look at his Michael Morbius, while also revealing that filming began one week ago.
“1 week down, 11 to go,” Leto tweeted.
Jared Harris, Matt Smith and Adria Arjona also star.
Michael Morbius is a scientist who, in trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease, accidentally transforms himself into a living vampire. Though disgusted by his own bloodlust, he chooses to prey upon criminals he deems unworthy of life.
Morbius was created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane and first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #101, the first issue not written by Spider-Man co-creator Stan Lee.
Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless wrote the script.
Morbius arrives on July 31, 2020.
