Today, the beloved, trailblazing “grandmother of the French New Wave,” Agnès Varda, passed away at 90 after a six-decades-long directing career. In 2017, she spoke with Jada Yuan for Vulture about her Oscar-nominated documentary, Faces Places, saying: “I think, it’s so interesting to have lived all that I’ve lived, loved all that I’ve loved. It’s like a backpack, you know, full of memories and things and people I’ve met … ” Today, friends, film makers, film lovers, and artists who looked to her for inspiration have taken to social media to share their own memories of Varda and the lasting impact of her work.
Work and life were undeniably fused for this legend. She lived FULLY for every moment of those 90 damn years 😻
