These women have let all their inhibitions go and taken part in an epic photo shoot to promote the beauty of breastfeeding and motherhood.
On March 2nd, Canadian photographer Trina Cary, 25, organized a breastfeeding photoshoot for women empowerment. She wanted to send the message that women should be proud of their post-baby bodies, and the photos are enough proof that she succeeded.
14 women showed up at the Sunshine Coast in Australia where they talked about the importance of this project while having fun breastfeeding their babies.
One mother expressed the difficulties of breastfeeding and how some women give up because of lack of support and the stigma surrounding feeding in public. Initially the women were all dressed, but one of the mothers decided that she wanted to show that one can be allowed to enjoy her post-partum body and that they should not be ashamed of their breastfeeding journey.
When the beautiful pictures were posted on social media, they went viral.
Some of the women were friends of Trina, and others were strangers who were interested in the project.
The photographer recalled that the whole evening of the shoot was oozing with empowerment, support and love.
Though the post also received crude and negative comments by those who didn’t agree with breastfeeding as well as men who “wanted to take part” in it, Trina said that there have been many beautiful messages she’s received all around the world.
Since the post went viral, many mothers across the globe have requested for more events like this one.
Trina hopes to bring this amazing project to other places. She’s scheduled photo shoots for Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Noosa, and Perth.
