Authorities and hundreds of volunteers had been searching for the teenager until scuba teams recovered a body from Genesee River on Sunday. He was reported missing when his mother, Carrie Houston, called the school asking why her son hadn’t gotten off the bus at 5:30 PM.
The teen arrived in East High School at around 7:30 AM but never went to class. Security cameras last saw him walking away from the school.

Several unconfirmed sightings of the boy around the area were reported by residents via 911. Rochester Police Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Office launched scuba teams to scour the area via side-scan sonar equipment and managed to recover a body at 5:20 PM on Sunday.

Police say that there is no positive identification yet, however the body that was found matched the physical and clothing description of Treyvan Rowe. Schools with autistic students are required to follow protocol when a student with autism is not at school to prevent them from straying from school grounds.
A separate investigation is being done to find out why the parent was not notified of the boy’s absence from school on Thursday.
