Austin Bomber Leaves 25-Minute Video Confession For Police To Find

The suspect in a series of bombings in Austin, Texas left a confession for police to find after he had blown himself up.

Police identified the suspect as 24-year-old Mark Anthony Conditt, who was unemployed and had no ciminal record. The authorities tracked the suspect using surveillance video from a FedEx in Austin and were able to corner him over on interstate 35 at around 3.am. EST.

As police surrounded his vehicle, he detonated a bomb inside which instantly killed him. One of the SWAT officers suffered minor injuries from the blast.

The videotaped confession was on a phone which the suspect had on him. It was a 25-minute recording detailing how Conditt made six different explosives with the last one being the bomb he detonated on himself. The bombings spanned over three weeks, leaving 2 dead and several people severely injured.The suspect confessed in detail how he made the bombs but a motive was not stated.

It is unclear whether Conditt’s bombings were racially or politically motivated.

Austin police chief Brian Manley also said in an interview, “He does not at all mention anything about terrorism nor did he mention anything about hate. But instead, it is the outcry of a very challenged young man, talking about challenges in his personal life that led him to this point.”

The family had no idea what was going on with Conditt. But a relative has released a statement on behalf of the family.
