It’s easy to understand the appeal ofHeather Gay. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star became a fan favorite after appearing on the inaugural season of the show alongside Mary Cosby, Jen Shah, Lisa Barlow, Meredith Marks, and cousin Whitney Rose. Heather is making waves on Season Two by being the only cast member ready to support Jen through her legal struggles. She is also holding her own against Jen, and has been one of the only cast members to get Jen to apologize/acknowledge any wrongdoings on her part.
Fans responded positively to Heather’s candor, her humility, and her sense of humor. She is unafraid to be herself in a world of strict social and moral rules. A self-proclaimed “good Mormon gone bad,” she left the church, post divorce, to be a single mother to her three children. The family of four have appeared on screen numerous times as Heather shared her unique way of parenting.
An article from Peoplereported that the strong fan base and interest in her story prompted the mother of three to write a “vulnerable” memoir about parting ways with her husband, and the Mormon church.
Bad Mormon will follow the trajectory of Heather’s adult life from her marriage into “church royalty,” through the struggles of raising three daughters shunned from their former community. Finally, the book will also explore Heather’s rise to fame on RHOSLC.

Heather told People she wrote the book as a means to guide other women on similar journeys of self-discovery. She explained, “A good Mormon would never write a book like this! I’m excited to tell my story and talk about the parts of my life that never make the TV screen. I hope that by sharing my experiences people will learn and grow from my mistakes, challenges and successes.”
Bad Mormon will be published on July 26, 2022 by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.
