A father was caught on a church’s CCTV camera abandoning his 3-day-old child.

32-year-old Bitto Davis and his 28-year-old wife Pravita Davis were both arrested after the former was caught leaving their child at a Church in Kerala India.

The CCTV footage shows Bitto carrying the baby inside the premises of St. George’s Forane Church in India.

The church had just celebrated its feast and had stalls around the area for parishioners. In the video, Bitto is seen approaching one of the stalls.

He briefly kisses the newborn on the forehead before placing the child on the side of the stall and leaving.

Church security staff found the infant and quickly notified the police. When authorities reviewed the video footage, they were able to identify Bitto which led to the couple’s arrest.

When the couple was detained, the man reportedly said that they made the decision to leave the baby since they were being mocked by all of their friends for already having too many children. Police said that they already have three sons, aged eight, six, and four.

When Pravita was pregnant, Bitto’s friends would prod and comment on the size of her belly. This disturbed Bitto so much that he decided to abandon his own child.

After the wife gave birth, both parents reportedly took a train to Kochi where the church was to leave the baby there. After the couple was arrested, they were charged with child abandonment and cruelty charges. The baby is currently under the care of child protection services.
