The body of a black teen was found Thursday in an area behind her home.
17-year-old Ke’Asia Adkins, who has been missing since Monday morning, had left for cheer practice and never returned that day.

The teen’s body will be taken to the Medical Examiners to confirm her identity. Investigators have been searching the area ever since the High School junior went missing.
“We haven’t had any confirmation that it is her, but our prayers, on yesterday, what we spent time on yesterday, was to ask the Lord to bring her home,” relative Pastor Belinda Baugh said Thursday morning.
“Whatever report this is, God is going to bring her home. As for the family, we ask that you keep them lifted up in prayer. They need your prayers now, more than ever.”

“Sometime Monday morning her phone went dead,” Adkins’ sister Kendra Green said Wednesday. “Since [then], no response and straight to voicemail.”
Her sister also said that Ke’Asia was known to be responsible and always made it a point to notify her family whenever she was out.
“This is not in her character at all to disappear,” Kendra said. “If she’s even going to be 10 minutes late she calls and texts my mom to let her know what’s the situation.”
Her school released a statement which read: ‘The Dinwiddie High School community suffered a tragic loss on June 28 when rising junior and Varsity Cheerleader Ke’Asia Adkins died. It is a very sad day for Dinwiddie High School.
The thoughts and prayers of the entire Dinwiddie County Public Schools’ community go out to her family. Ke’Asia was a beautiful young lady who was a General through and through. She will be greatly missed by the entire Dinwiddie High School family, especially her friends, teammates, teachers and staff.’
Anyone with information about her death is asked to contact the Dinwiddie Sheriff’s Office at 804-469-4550.
