Jesus Take The SÖDERHAMN: Child Finds A Gun In IKEA Sofa And Fires Shot Inside The Store
Child In IKEA Fires Gun Found In Store’s Display Sofa
According to police, a child fired a shot from a loaded handgun after finding it in a sofa at an IKEA store located in suburban Indianapolis.
Fishers police say that luckily, no one was injured from the gunshot that happened at about 2 p.m. on Monday at the furniture store right alongside Interstate 69, northeast of Indianapolis.
Police Sgt. Tom Weger says that the handgun’s owner wasn’t aware the weapon dropped from his pants when he sat on the couch, which the child later found within the sofa cushions. The age of the child wasn’t released.
According to Weger, no arrests were immediately made and that the Hamilton County prosecutor’s office would decide whether to file any criminal charges.
Ikea said in a statement it has a no-weapons policy for its stores and that it was cooperating with police.
