A child fired a shot inside an Ikea store in Indiana which startled shoppers Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 2 PM when a child found a gun on a couch. After authorities investigated the incident, they found that a customer sat down on the couch to test it. He did not realize that his firearm had fallen out and dropped onto the couch.
The next customers who happened to wander around the area where the gun was happened to be minors. One child got hold of the gun and pulled the trigger, firing a single shot.

There were no injuries reported from the incident. Police have interviewed several witnesses and are still determining any possible charges.
An Ikea spokeseman issued a statement on Monday:
“Safety and security of customers and co-workers is the top priority for Ikea. We have processes in place to ensure that the store is safe for customers and co-workers. For example, our store team has regular safety walks and audits which happen before, during and after opening hours,” the company said.
“In addition, Ikea has a no weapon policy in our locations to prevent exactly these types of situations. As soon as we were made aware of the situation, our co-workers took the action they were trained to do to ensure the safety of customers. We are cooperating with police as they investigate this incident.”
