Authorities have said that there was no evidence that Bourdain’s death was anything but a suicide, so cremation was allowed.
French prosecutor Christian de Rocquigney de Fayel said in an interview, “Nothing suggested involvement of a third person.”
The celebrity chef, author and TV host was filming an episode of his series “Parts Unknown” and was in his hotel room when he hung himself with a bathrobe belt. He had skipped dinner on Thursday night and was found unresponsive by his close friend and fellow chef Eric Ripert.
His death came as a shock to fans, friends, and family. Anthony Bourdain’s mother Gladys said that there was never any sign something was wrong.

Anthony was my best friend. An exceptional human being, so inspiring & generous. One of the great storytellers who connected with so many,” Ripert wrote on Twitter last week. “I pray he is at peace from the bottom of my heart. My love & prayers are also with his family, friends and loved ones.”
He is survived by his girlfriend Asia Argento, and his 11-year-old daughter, Ariane. His family requests for their privacy at this difficult time.
