Usually, when a member of the Duggar family enters a new courtship, it's a very big deal.
But the youngest members of Jim Bob's massive brood never appeared on Counting On as much as their older siblings, so they might prefer to keep their relationship details under wraps.
That would explain how Justin Duggar and Claire Spivey courted for months without the public's knowledge.
It would also explain how Jed Duggar and Lauren Caldwell might have gotten to the engagement stage before anyone even knew they were dating.
There have been rumors about Jed and Lauren, of course, but the alleged couple has never made any sort of formal announcement.
Lauren, in case you're unaware, is the sister of Joseph Duggar's wife, Kendra Caldwell.
Fans were shocked when Lauren got engaged to Titus Young back in Octover of 2020, as there had long been rumors that she planned to follow in her sister's footsteps by marrying into the most famous evangelical family in Arkansas.
But the engagement ended just a few weeks later -- and there's reason to believe that Lauren wasn't single for very long afterward.
"Jed and Lauren have been courting on and off for over a year and kept things very hush-hush," a source close to the situation tells The Sun.
"Lauren seemed to confuse everyone when she got together with Titus, but it didn't last and her relationship with Jed became serious very quickly."
If the Jed-Lauren rumors are true, this would be a very exciting time for Jim Bob Duggar.
He's close friends with Lauren's father, Paul Caldwell, who is also the minister at the church attended by the Duggars.
Some have even gone so far as to say the two men arranged Joseph and Kendra's marriage, but those claims remain unconfirmed.
"Their families are both happy for them and feel they're the perfect match, they're thankful Lauren didn't get hitched to the wrong guy," says the insider.
"They've already discussed having children, they're really ready to settle down and start their own family."
Yes, it seems that despite the lack of an official announcement, Jed and Lauren are wasting no time and have every intention of starting a family as soon as possible.
"As with all of the Duggars, the wedding will definitely be no small affair, with likely more than a hundred guests invited to celebrate their big day," says the insider.
The source adds that Jed and Lauren have "already set a date for the ceremony in April."
The relationship is reportedly a much-needed bright spot for Jed, who's had a rather difficult year.
In 2020, Jed ran for a seat in the Arkansas State House of Representatives, a move that required him to relocate to the district in which he was running.
Not only was he soundly defeated, his campaign was beset by corruption allegations.
"He moved out after he lost the election. He was a quiet guy and not around here for very long. He went back to the family home," said a former neighbor.
Well, if there's any truth to the latest rumors, Jed won't be at home for very long!
We wish him and Lauren all the best!
And of course, we'll keep you updated on this developing story as more information becomes available.
