The future looked grim for Joanna Hogg when the director lost her leading man for her upcoming sequel to The Souvenir earlier this year. Robert Pattinson had been slated to appear alongside Honor Swinton-Byrne, but he dropped out when other obligations (Batman duty for Matt Reeves, a key role in Christopher Nolan‘s new film Tenet) complicated his schedule.
There’s some good news for Hogg fans today, however, as her production staffs up with a trio of high-profile castings. Swinton-Byrne will be up to her knees in handsome eligible bachelors, as The Playlist reports that Pattinson’s role has been split in half – the spoils going to Harris Dickinson (Beach Rats breakout, Xavier Dolan dabber, and soon-to-be-star of the hilariously-titled Kingsman spinoff) and Charlie Heaton (best known for his work on Netflix‘s Stranger Things). Joe Alwyn (Billy Lynn of the long halftime walk) has also joined the cast in an unspecified role.
The film’s production company has yet to set a timeline for when we can expect to see Hogg’s hotly-anticipated follow-up, but those in need of a fix of content immediately can pick up Little White Lies 80. The Souvenir made the cover, and the reasonably priced magazine contains our official review of the film, an in-depth interview with Hogg herself, and a valiant effort to codify a new canon of 100 great British films.
The issue is on newsstands now and includes a special KineRama decoder, so that readers may appreciate all the intimacy and betrayal of Hogg’s quasi-memoir like never before. It’s as if your perfidious lover is right there with you in the room, stealing your money and eroding your trust!
