He contracted an infection which led to sepsis and is now in intensive care. The 93-year-old was admitted at the Houston Methodist Hospital on Sunday morning. There has been speculation that his health was affected due to the loss of his wife, which might have weakened his immune system.
The former president revealed years back that he suffers from a form of Parkinson’s disease that has made walking difficult for him. He gets around in either a wheelchair or a scooter.

On Sunday, his blood pressure kept dropping and with his age and current state of health, he was rushed to the hospital for treatment as his condition was deemed critical. The hospitalization of the elder Bush is especially upsetting for his family due to the recent passing of wife and mother Barbara Bush.
The former first lady was laid to rest on Sunday with about 1,500 mourners attending her funeral.
