This is Dylan Rodrigues. You may think he’s just a regular 8-year-old with a lemonade stand, but he’s actually an extraordinary young boy with a big heart.

He wanted to make money and didn’t know how to do it. A lemonade stand was the first thing that came to his mind.

He started selling lemonade 2 years ago at the corner of Bacon Street near Cape May Avenue in Ocean Beach. Since then, the 8-year-old has earned over $3000. But how did he do it exactly?

The difference between all other lemonade stands and Dylan’s is that he doesn’t charge a single dime to his customers. Instead, he encourages them to ‘pay it forward’. He earns $50-$60 a day from his donation based lemonade stand.
It’s up to his customers how much they want to pay him, but the 8-year-old doesn’t only spend his cash on legos and toys. Since he’s been earning more than he expected, he uses the money to buy and donate supplies like backpacks and lunches for the homeless. The little boy is doing more for others by thinking of new ways to pay it forward.
He partnered up with the International Rescue Committee for a toy drive where he hand delivered toys to 50 families.

Dylan also donated $50 of his own money towards the $1,400 selling lemonade and his own art for relief efforts for the victims of Mexico’s deadly earthquake.

Ocean beach residents have praised the boy and said that he’s “a shining example to all kids.” His kindness has been spreading throughout the community. Dylan also has an Etsy page where he sells his art as part of his way to pay it forward.
