Ten people have been killed and 15 injured after they were hit by a rental van driven along a crowded sidewalk in Toronto on Monday afternoon, April 23.

The incident happened at around 1:30 PM at a busy intersection in the Yonge and Finch area north of the city. The driver was 25-year-old Alek Manassian who was arrested after fleeing the area leaving a trail of bodies in his wake.
A video of the arrest shows the suspect shouting at police to “shoot him” and “kill him” while he points the gun at the enforcers.

Witnesses reported that the driver was allegedly speeding and jumped a curb towards the busy sidewalk continuing for a mile hitting a fire hydrant and dozens of people.

Police have declared that the incident was deliberate though they have yet to know the motives of the suspect. However, they have linked the incident to terrorist group ISIS, who have done similar attacks in the United Kingdom, France, and New York City.
Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau, has released a statement on Twitter expressing his sympathies for the victims and their families.

He also commended first responders and assured the public that law enforcement agencies around the country are doing their best to ensure the safety and security of all Canadians.

Toronto police are still looking through the incident and are calling any witnesses to come forward for questioning.
