Last night’s episode of Married At First Sight made a few things clear. Some of these couples really like each other, while others are just biding their time. Honestly, I don’t see the point of dragging things out. If I were matched with some of this people, I would have skipped down to the courthouse to file for divorce a long time ago.
Approaching the first milestone, the couples are reminded of the commitment they made to a complete stranger one month ago. While some celebrate this achievement, others question their future. There isn’t much time left for these couples to figure out if they intend on staying married. Hopefully, things will become clearer as they move forward. Let’s get straight to the recap!
Paige & Chris
Paige meets with Chris to play basketball and talk about their relationship. After taking a break, Paige inquires about his first engagement. She is literally giving this man kudus for giving her the smallest amount of effort. Both of them are completely ridiculous at this point. I honestly can’t take anything they do seriously anymore. Later, Paige meets with some of the other ladies and reveals that she is disappointed Chris decided to buy the mother of his child a new car without consulting her first. Haley and Briana listen politely, but it’s obvious they are wondering why the hell Paige is still sticking around. Chris has been doing everything he wanted to do throughout their marriage, why would she expect something different now?
In an effort to spend more time together, Paige and Chris hang out and play a game of pool. All hell breaks loose when Chris pulls his usual bullshit, once again. He has the nerve to tell her that she has a communication issue because she isn’t available any time he decides to call. He then goes on to tell her that they don’t have a connection and she only wants to interact when the cameras are around. WTF! Paige is so distressed by the conversation she is brought to tears before storming out. Honestly, I would be way more upset if Paige didn’t continuously put herself in these situations. Chris is manipulative and emotionally abusive, but she continues to allow him to make her miserable. I just can’t understand it! Unsurprisingly, Paige is all alone on her one month anniversary.
Clara & Ryan
When Clara and Ryan go on a double date with Erik and Virginia, it’s obvious Clara is a bit annoyed. Things go from bad to worse when Virginia reveals that Erik proclaimed his love for her. Clara quickly lets Ryan know if he doesn’t drop the “L” word within 6 months, she is moving on. Awkward!!!! Clearly, Clara is feeling insecure about the state of her marriage.
Ryan takes Clara on a helicopter ride for their one month anniversary. Things still appear to be a little uncomfortable. She is not her usual bubbly self, but Ryan doesn’t seem to notice. Or maybe he doesn’t want to deal with the issue because he knows her unhappiness is a result of their lack of intimacy. Later that night, Ryan surprises Clara with dinner in the backyard. They discuss their expectations in their marriage, but neither of them is truly being honest. It just seems like they both worry about saying the wrong thing in front of each other or the cameras. But it’s hard not to notice the change in Clara’s demeanor. She isn’t completely happy and that is obvious. In a post interview, Clara admits that she doesn’t know what she is going to say on decision day.
Haley & Jacob
Haley invites a tarot reader to come and read her and Jacob’s connection. Sigh! According to the cards, they both are compatible they just need to let down their guards. Insert eye roll emoji. I don’t care how many people try to counsel Haley; she simply doesn’t like her husband.
Jacob and Haley go to a winery to celebrate their one month anniversary. They both have decided to remain positive and okay with going with the flow. But the vibe quickly changes when they look through their wedding pictures. His feelings are hurt when he realizes that even on the wedding day; his wife wasn’t attracted to him. He becomes frustrated and blurts out how he truly feels. Sigh! I kind of feel bad for him. It has to be hard to feel rejected by the person you are married to. Jacob’s last straw was when he felt Haley was disgusted every time they hugged. He sees divorce in their near future. Well, it doesn’t take a tarot reader to see that! Let’s be real, this was never going to work.
Virginia & Erik
Erik is shocked when he learns that Virginia has no intention of living in his home after the experiment. She wants to get a new place together, rather than move into a house that she feels solely belongs to him. Erik is not willing to budge because he owns a home, while she is only renting. When she doesn’t immediately sway to his way of thinking, he makes it clear where he is going after everything is over. Whew! Well, although I can understand both of their perspectives, Virginia can’t expect him to just sell his home and find another one overnight. I don’t think it’s unreasonable for her to live with him temporarily, until they find a new home together. But Virginia plans to stay at her apartment until they can find a shared space. Good luck with that!
Erik takes Virginia to his family’s hangar to celebrate their one month anniversary. After looking at pictures, they end the day with a plane ride and dinner. Virginia even offers him a weird gift, a blanket with a huge picture of her and her dog’s face. Nothing says scary love like being wrapped in a tacky blanket. The weird gifts don’t stop there. Erik presents a framed picture of the GPS coordinates of where he and Virginia first met. Too bad, she had no idea what she is looking at until it is explained to her. Just when you thought the night was going to end in binge drinking and staring into each other’s eyes, they start talking about all of their fears.
Briana & Vincent
Vincent surprises Briana with a boat date for their one month anniversary. They watch their wedding and smile ear to ear while reminiscing on their special day. During dinner they both describe how they love each other and don’t feel obligated, but want to be together. Let’s be honest, these two are single-handedly saving the idea that love can be achieved through this experience this season.
TELL US – IS ERIK CONTROLLING OR DECISIVE? ARE YOU SURPRISED BY THE WHAT CHRIS SAID TO PAIGE? DO YOU THINK CLARA AND RYAN ARE WELL MATCHED?
