Power dining spot Fresco by Scotto has temporarily shut as the pandemic continues to decimate the Midtown dining scene.
“Good Day New York” host Rosanna Scotto, whose family owns the eatery, told us: “We are heartbroken that we have to put Fresco on pause. We tried our best, but Midtown is empty. We hope when people come back to work, we can reopen.”
The family also posted on social media, “We are filled with so much emotion… 27 years of meeting so many wonderful people at our restaurant.” The heartfelt message also thanked the “incredible staff.”
The restaurant has been known as a favorite for political players of all stripes — from Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Chris Christie to George Pataki, Benjamin Netanyahu, John McCain and Rudy Giuliani, as well as old-school stars.
The crowds have made for plenty of camaraderie, controversy and Page Six items. Last year we reported that Home Depot billionaire Ken Langone, now 85, made a dig at Joe Biden aide Jennifer Bayer Michaels at Fresco By Scotto, joking the president-elect, now 78, should “admit himself to an old-age home.”
