Could you draw a sci-fi version of your favourite movie star?

April 04, 2019

Paprika (2006)

Throughout 2019, Barbican is conducting a wide-ranging discussion on the concept of technology and how it has altered human lives and human perceptions. It’s all part of their expansive Life Rewired season, which comprises art installations, exhibitions, film screenings, concerts and performances.

The Brief

In this spirit of this project, we’d like you to design a portrait of your favourite movie star, in which they have been enhanced by technology in some aspect. Perhaps it could be the future cyborg version of Oscar Isaac, or a Anne Hathaway preserved as a sentient computer programme? Simply pick your most cherished movie idol, and launch them into the future.

Your design must incorporate at least one of the following colours:

The Prize

The overall winner, as judged by our in-house design team, will receive Barbican Membership (valued at £59), a £100 gift voucher for the Barbican’s on-site restaurant Osteria, two tickets to an Anime’s Human Machines screening of your choice at the Barbican, pending availability

Five winning artworks to be displayed at Barbican from approximately 1 June to 30 September.

How to Enter

All entries should be A3 portrait (42cm x 29.7 cm) and must be created digitally. Submit your design with the subject line ‘Life Rewired creative brief’ to competitions@tcolondon.com. The deadline for entries is midnight on Friday 19 April.

You can also send us your entry via Twitter or Instagram by tagging @LWLies, but be sure to email us a hi-res version of your entry as well. Please remember to include your full name so we know who to credit. Good luck!
