The Empire Polo Field Prepares For The 2012 Coachella Music Festival

A longtime Coachella worker has died following a tragic accident at the festival’s grounds in Indio, California. Per THR, the unnamed man, who was doing construction on one of the stages as the lead rigger, fell to his death and was pronounced dead at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the fall are not yet clear, and he had worked for Coachella for 20 years. “Our friend fell while working on a festival stage. It is with heavy hearts and tremendous difficulty that we confirm his passing,” Coachella’s production company said in a statement. “He has been with our team for twenty years in the desert and was doing what he loved. He was a hard-working and loving person that cared deeply about his team.” The festival, which will take place over the next two weekends, will be proceeding as normal. Headliners include Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, and Kanye West’s church group.
