An extremely fluffy five-year-old Great Pyrenees named Kato went on a hike on the Maxwell Falls trail in Evergreen, Colorado, with his owners.

Unlike his hoomans, the 120-pound pupper wasn’t trained or fit enough to go on such a tiring trail. Kato became ‘exhausted’ and ‘most likely dehydrated.’
Kato’s companions became worried and decided to call the Evergreen Fire/Rescue for help.
Evergreen Fire/Rescue tweeted about their heroic rescue, complete with photos of the sleepy, tired dog.
Today’s EFR had a “patient” on the Maxwell Falls trail who was exhausted and most likely dehydrated. About 5 1/2 years old, 120lbs and a fluffy Great Pyrenees named Kate. Good thing Kato’s humans reached out for assistance as they were about 1 mile away from the trail head. pic.twitter.com/Zrb7G28T1e

People fell head over heels for the endearing Kato. One person felt she had sussed him out, saying, “He does look like he would capitalize on any potential comfort options.”
Another one remarked, “He looks like royalty being carried out in a caravan… as he should!”
“They’re buying it. Just a little bit further. Keep a straight face, Kato.” pic.twitter.com/NadfjNND5w

“Happened to my great pyrenees, Teddy, 5 years ago! Had to call the boys to come help even though they were an hour and a half away. Had to hike 2 miles downhill to get Teddy, then we scooped him up and carried him 2 miles back up during a wicked thunderstorm. Love my boys!”
Other Twitter users also shared their own hiking adventures with their dogs.
Reminds me of the time my Burnese/Border Collie tore her pads at the top of Horsetooth Rock. She’s 80 lbs. That was fun.

My rule has always been: never walk my St. Bernard farther than I can carry him.

Guys…@manan19 @fpshah @dhavalshah05 @margi1511 @tr1mal remember when you guys had to carry me half-way back up at Crater Lake when I fell & tore a ligament in my ankle?
This is sort of the same thing, but not really.— Priyanka Patel (@priyankap_patel) June 7, 2018
As a Pyrenees owner myself I can confirm when they are tired or hot they get stubborn. My boy Maximus laid down under the shade of a neighbors tree mid walk when he decided he was done and refused to budge. 132lbs of "nope"

Well done to the Evergreen Fire/Rescue team and to Kato’s owners for leaving no pup behind!
