This Intelligent Pupper Likes To ‘Pay’ For His Treats

April 26, 2018

When this dog noticed that students were paying green paper to get snacks, he found a way to pay for  his own.

Negro is the resident dog at Colombia’s Diversified Technical Educational Institute in Monterrey Casanare.

The pupper has been living there for a while and is in the care of the school’s faculty and staff. In turn, the little doggo acts as a guardian, keeping students safe inside campus.  When he’s not making his rounds all over campus, he’s at the school store where he ‘buys’ his own treats. He noticed that the students who buy him cookies would pay the store for them.

So he wanted to try it out for himself. He found a leaf and brought it to the store staff.

“He would go to the store and watch the children give money and receive something in exchange,” said one of the faculty. “Then one day, spontaneously, he appeared with a leaf in his mouth, wagging his tail and letting it be known that he wanted a cookie.”

That’s how Negro learned how to pay for things.

Of course the store staff would accept his ‘money’ and give him a treat or two. But, they do limit his purchases and give him food that is safe for him to consume. It’s only right for a dog who lives in a school to be this intelligent!
