These Tiny Bats Look Like Cotton Balls And They Are The Cutest Things Ever

If you think teacup pigs are the cutest things ever, then you haven’t seen these tiny tropical bats.

They’re Honduran white bats and they only grow to the size of about 2 inches.

They aren’t like regular bats though, which you’d normally find in caves.

Instead, these white bats live in tropical evergreen rain forests.

They’re so small that they like to huddle together under a leaf. The bats make these tent-like structures by cutting the veins of the leaf along the middle so the two ends slump down to protect them.

They’re similar to other bats because they’re nocturnal and communicate through touch and echolocation. But unlike those bats, you have nothing to worry about because the Honduran white bats only eat fruits!

Their white coat is an evolutionary trait which makes them invisible when the sunlight hits the leaves.

Though the Honduran white bat is so adorable that you’d want to have them as pets, they’re classified under the ‘Near Threatened’ category and are being protected in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and Honduras.

So you’ll just have to settle for these adorable photos!
