Jamie Dornan Reveals the Unsexy Reality Behind Filming His Graphic ’50 Shades’ Sex Scenes
t's February. Know what that means? Valentine's Day.
Know what that means? There's a new 50 Shades film coming to theaters near you. The final one, in fact! After E.L. James super sexual Twilight fanfic made it to the silver screen, many of us realized that anything is possible — even things that you wish weren't possible. But we were also left wondering: just how do they film those sex scenes?
Luckily (?) for you, now we know...
For whatever reason, the 50 Shades series has sort of taken the world by storm.
The first book, Fifty Shades of Grey, had sold 125 million copies as of June 2015. It was also the fastest-selling paperback of all time in the U.K.
Suffice it to say, people like these stories. Or they like something about them, anyway. Maybe they’re not super concerned with the plot, if you know what I mean.
The main reason people read the books and watch the movies?
It’s the sex. Obviously. Duh.
And since the films get pretty graphic with the sexual content, you might find yourself thinking that filming the sex scenes might be erotic, right?
Well, to put it bluntly:
No. Obviously, shooting sex scenes like the ones stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are involved in is really just a job. Dornan is married, Johnson is dating Chris Martin, and the two are merely coworkers.
But, if you must know, the 50 Shades sex scenes are filmed with the use of a wee bag.
Yes, you read that correctly.
But don’t worry. It’s not some kind of bag that you pee into. That’d be weird.
Actually, now that I think about it, the actual use might be slightly weirder…
