Two police officers are being criticized for forcefully restraining a 9-year-old when his father was arrested on Monday.

9-year-old Eric Collins was seen being pinned to the ground in a viral video captured by one of his relatives.

In the video that his cousin, Ariel Collins took, it only showed the part where the child was manhandled by the two officers. The two officers were under investigation after the video went viral.

But body cam footage has revealed what had happened moments prior to the incident.

The child was distraught when he saw police handcuffing and taking his father away. As officers headed towards the car with his father, he tried to block the way.

The father of the child was heard in the video telling the boy to calm down. But, the 9-year-old remained upset and aggravated. As relatives try to restrain the child, he suddenly runs and lunges towards one of the officers.

The boy is subsequently pushed towards the hood of the police car. His relatives can be heard in the background telling the officers to let go of the boy. The officers can be heard telling the relatives to step away.

Though the two videos show what had transpired all throughout the incident, netizens said that the officers were too harsh on the child and that the situation could have been handled differently.
